A Way Out – E3 2017

In what was most likely the EA conference’s biggest surprise, A Way Out is the newest game from director Josef Fares, the mind behind the critically acclaimed Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. A Way Out is a story-driven co-op adventure mode, and by that I mean mandatory co-op. The game will always be shown on a splitscreen perspective, either if you play it with a friend next to you or with someone else online, with each half of the screen showing one of the two main characters, Vince and Leo.

Not much of the actual gameplay has been shown, nor its story. All that could be seen from the trailer was the presence of a part in which you clearly break out from prison, as well as segments outside said prison in which it’s safe to say that personal vendetta will ensue. One interesting gameplay element that has been shown, however, is the fact that when one of the characters is stuck in a cutscene, the other character can freely move around and do his own thing, with the possibility of looking at said cutscene happening from another perspective.
