A new IP to add the Xbox’s growing collection of exclusives, Ashen looks like the brainchild of someone who said, “I wonder what Dark Souls would look like if it was made by an indie developer.” Featuring an open world, tight combat, and RPG elements, Ashen is definitely a game we want to keep our eye on.

And speaking of eyes, the lack thereof in the character designs is one of the things that caught ours. Ashen features a unique visual style that incorporates simplicity with a dark color palate and world design that were inspired by Cormac McCarthy’s The Road, deepening the air of mystery that the game gives off.

Ashen is exclusive to Xbox One and PC, with the release date TBA.
