Indie Wednesday – Sinister Shifts, Aerial Drifts, Quad Shrifts, and Prenatal Lifts
Welcome to Way Too Many Indies Wednesdays where we highlight four recently released or upcoming indie games that have caught our eye. In a market where so many games can get lost in the shuffle, some true gems can sneak right past us without us knowing. These are the four games this week that we want to keep our eye on, and we think you should as well!
This week is brought to you by our author Jordan Hawes. This collection of games, as is typical with my picks, are all over the place. There is sprawling and story driven action adventure, 2.5D Metriodvania’s, and a futuristic cyberpunk flying car racing game. All of these exciting titles will be coming soon on Steam, so be sure to check them out!

“Uncover a forgotten legend as you venture through mythical realms. Play as four heroes bound by a mysterious fate. Explore ancient ruins, outsmart deadly foes and solve arcane puzzles. Each path you take reveals a piece of The Longest Tale.” The way this looks to be telling its story through four protagonist that take you on a massive adventure to completely different areas has me really interested in how this story unfolds. This looks like a fantastic action adventure.

“A 2.5D metroidvania with the freedom of an immersive sim. Every fight and every path can be approached differently: through combat, stealth, or using the world’s mechanics. The story unfolds in a world where Orthodox aesthetics meet Soviet brutalism and traditional woodcraft.” As big fan of metriodvania’s and Among the Waves caught my eye with its interesting setting and theme, but also the developers note has me more intrigued: “We’re not making a game about birth. We’re making a game about why you wait for it — and what you’re willing to give so that it happens at the right time and in the right place.”
Rumbral

“Rumbral is a dark, puzzle platformer set in a seemingly forgotten world. Find your way in this desolated place while trying to recover your memories and find out who you really are.” My first impression obviously is this looks like Limbo and Inside and that excites me already. The cool twist of having multiple dimensions to travel to get past puzzles makes this a must play for me.

“Punk Runner is a flying-car racing game set in a cyberpunk open-world. You cruise the flying city, meet rivals, and jump into spontaneous street races that can start at any moment. You will customize your car, level up, and push your stats to beat stronger enemies. The city is always alive, always pushing you to race someone new.” To be honest, I don’t typically go for racing focused games, but this looked way too cool to pass up. A futuristic cyberpunk flying car racing game? I need to play this.
And that’ll do it for this iteration of Way Too Many Indies Wednesday! Go ahead and wishlist those that caught your eye; that kind of metric really matters for developers and publishers. There’s always something for someone, so don’t forget to always be searching for the next big game that really speaks to you. If you think there’s a game that should be considered for our roundup, be sure to let us know! Have fun, and keep the indie parade going!
