Summer Game Fest 2026 Hands-On – My Arms Are Longer Now
My Arms Are Longer Now was the very first game I played at Summer Game Fest on Saturday and, let me tell you, what a great way to start the weekend. There is something so fantastic about the indie gaming scene where creativity, comedy, and general weirdness gets to shine. My Arms Are Longer Now is a shining beacon of that with it’s outright bonkers ideas and hilarious writing.
If you aren’t familiar with the game, don’t feel bad: neither was I, but I quickly became a believer after playing it. My Arms Are Longer Now is developed by Toot Games and the first game published by Jackbox Games. Yes, thee Jackbox Games is now publishing indies, which I think is fantastic. My Arms Are Longer Now is a fairly simple idea. You have an extremely long snake-like arm that you use to steal things with. Besides stealing things, you will also mess with people and vandalize property.
Don’t question how or why, just enjoy the silliness! The demo started with a mission to steal a valuable suitcase from a woman on a train. You will need to sneak around, gain access to the other train car, and get the suitcase from the woman. It’s a 2.5D game, so you will be able to go all over the cabin within the space. However, you only have so much arm length so you can’t extend yourself too much. You will need to retract your arm and try a better path if you can’t reach your objective with the allotted arm length.
Once I got into the main cabin there were a bunch of things for me to do. I could steal a man’s bike, pickpocket him, steal the dog so it stop barking at me and grab a train ticket. All of this means something during the mission, whether just gaining additional cash (which is the score system for the levels), or items that will help you progress to the objective, like being able to steal the train ticket to give to the ticket inspector. Once clearing all the mini things between me and the objective, I see that the suitcase is chained to the woman’s wrist and padlocked. This required me to pick her pocket for the keys, unlock it, and retract my arm without waking her.
The Dino looks like it could use some flossing. While My Arms Are Longer Now seems simple, and for the most part it was, it’s absolutely everything else that is going on while you’re doing this that is hilarious. Toot Games is Australian based and so much of their humor is present, from the silly remarks and comments as you’re stealing the guy’s bike or from the other guy watching his dog be stolen. Then the cartoony hand drawn art style adds to it with little silly things like seeing the man’s butt crack sticking out when the camera makes the bench transparent when you’re behind it.
So many things ended up adding to the hilarious absurdity of it all, and the only thing I didn’t like was that the demo was only one level long. I wanted more, and that is always a good sign of a fun game!
My Arms Are Longer Now is still shooting for a 2026 release date for PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), with other consoles to follow after.
