The Villains We Want To See In Spider-Man 2 for PS5

Spider-Man 2 Cover

Now that we got the wonderfully amazing Spider-Man game with its great cast of villains, some of which did make the game from our list, it’s time to revisit the topic. We would like to update a new list based off what we’ve had, and also based on some of the clues and teasers we got from the first. It’s already known that Venom and Kraven are going to be in Spider-Man 2 from the trailer, as well as the original ending tease, seeing Harry in the tank covered in the symbiote. We also know Miles’ Spider-Man will also be in the game, so obviously some of these will be from his storyline. Here is the list of villains we’re expecting to see in Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2, but also some we’re hoping make an appearance as either a main or side villain, similar to Task Master and Tombstone.

Cletus Kasady (Carnage)

Spider-Man 2 Carnage

“Evil is forever… and they don’t get more evil than me!”

Yes, we featured Cletus Kasady in our last villain’s article, but it makes even more sense for him to show up in Spider-Man 2. You can’t have Venom without Carnage, and this psychopath could easily be a fantastic addition to the roster. Now that we know Harry Osborne is going to be Venom, or at least the original person infested with the symbiote, Carnage will be the reason for Venom/Harry to move into their anti-hero stage. At the end of Spider-Man,we see Doc in prison and that could be the lead up to meeting Cletus. Also, we just really want to see Carnage in all that PS5 glory.

Norman or Harry Osborn (Green Goblin)

Norman Osborn (Green Goblin)

“Take a look, Parker–a good, long look–it’s the last face Spider-Man will ever see–it’s the real face of the Green Goblin–the face of Norman Osborn!”

We know at the end of Spider-Man that Norman has Harry in a suspiciously green chamber working on a cure for his infection. Perhaps this is where Norman will make his super serum in efforts to help Harry separate from the alien parasite. He decides to test it on himself first, or even trying it on Harry, it working, and we have a Goblin. Norman removing the symbiote from Harry seems plausible since Eddie Brock is in the game and would become Venom. We will just need to see how Insomniac handles this situation, but we’re confident that we will see a Goblin.

Quentin Beck (Mysterio)

Spider-Man 2 Mysterio

“Regardless of the size of the audience… Always make an entrance boy… Always Make An Entrance!”

Mysterio makes the list again, but come on, he’s amazing! Plus, there are extra reasons why he would make a great villain in Spider-Man 2. Since we know that Miles and Peter are both teaming up in this one, it would be a nice call back to the comics for them to have their first-ish fight together teaming up to take him down. Also, how awesomely creative could Insomniac get with this character?

Dr. Curtis Connors (Lizard)

Spider-Man 2 Lizard

“Not… a monster. I’m Curtisss Connorsss. And I will never let the monstersss win again.”

Okay, hear us out on this one. We know you’re about to say: “but we already picked up a backpack with a collectable that showed Spider-Man already made a cure for Conners,” blah blah blah. We also saw him in the lab with Norman trying everything in his power to save Harry. Could we see him change again? Maybe, maybe not, but we just like the Lizard and want to see him in the game.

Brock Rumlow (Crossbones)

Spider-Man 2 Crossbones

“This is gonna hurt. There are no prisoners with HYDRA, just order, and order only comes through pain. Are you ready for yours?”

Crossbones would be another interesting side character to introduce. He trained under Taskmaster, who we fought in Spider-Man, however, Crossbones has been the only character that Spider-Man had to admit that he couldn’t take on alone. Miles then had to ask the help of the New Ultimates heroes to help. We’re not sure if they’re diving fully into the Ultimates timeline, but Crossbones would be quite the rival nonetheless.

Dmitri Smerdyakov (Chameleon)

Spider-Man 2 Chameleon

“I am invisible because I am the same thing you look at every dreadful, dull day. I am the day before you realize everything has gone horribly, horribly wrong. I am the Chameleon.”

Chameleon makes the list because of how creative he would be to fight. He works with Kingpin, so he would be a natural villain for Kingpin to hire to take out both Miles and Peter, and he also happens to be Kraven’s brother. Much like Mysterio, Chameleon does not have powers, but his cunning ability to blend into anything and anyone could lead for some creative fights and missions.

Roderick Kingsley (Hobgoblin)

Spider-Man 2 Hobgoblin

“Well, Norman Osborn may have died, but his legacy– His power– Will live on! And this time, it shall be shaped by a man who knows how to use power!”

If we’re confident that we will see a Goblin made from the efforts of Norman saving Harry, then we have to put the strongest Goblin on the list, Hobgoblin. Using a stronger modified version of the Goblin formula, Hobgoblin was hired by Aaron Davis/Iron Spider (Miles’ uncle) to kill Spider-Man.

Johnathon Ohnn (Spot)

Spider-Man 2 Spot

“Mr. Fisk treasures his privacy, Quentin. I can’t just–“

Former ally of Mr. Negative, and roommate of Quentin Beck, Johnathon Ohnn works for the Kingpin in researching radioactive power. After creating a solid black circular portal and stepping into it, they bonded to him giving him the power to create portals at anytime. His unique power also comes with the ability to not trigger Spider-Man’s Spidey-Sense which would make for some interesting fights.

Flint Marko (Sandman)

Spider-Man 2 Sandman

“Life is a wheel. No matter how much it turns and turns, and you keep thinking you’re making some kind of headway… sooner or later, it comes right around again.”

Since we are featuring Iron Spider’s Sinister Six villains in here, we may as well throw in Sandman. In a freak radioactive explosion, Flint Marko’s DNA was transformed to match the the chemical composition of small rocks and minerals. He can control every particle of his body, and can form his limbs into weapons, pick locks with his finger, shape-shift into different beings, or even gather more sand onto himself to become a giant. We’d love to see this spectacle fight, with all the particle effects and the scale he can become. Having a sandstorm in the middle of Manhattan could be interesting.

Lori & Lana Baumgartner (Bombshell)

Bombshell

“It doesn’t matter how big you get, I’ll blast you down!”

We’re going to keep with the Iron Spider Sinister Six theme with both Spider’s worlds mixing together. Lori was a criminal in jail that was offered release in return for participating in Roxxon experiments. The experiment was successful and gave Lori superpowers, but unbeknownst to both Roxxon and herself, she was pregnant at the time. Years later, Lori and her daughter used their powers to go on a crime spree. With Lana being a friend of Miles, but who keeps getting pulled into the life of crime and The Sinister Six by her mom, there could be an interesting story dynamic here.

Bonus Addition or Teaser (The Multiverse)

Spider-VerseWe highly doubt this will happen in Spider-Man 2, but if there is even just a hint or tease or nod to the Spider-Verse, we would totally nerd out. There is so much potential for a great spin off maybe with some wacky adventures. With how popular the Multiverse part was in No Way Home, and of course the fantastic Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse animated movie, we would love some of that in game form.
