Indie Wednesday – Manic Jumps, Tile Bumps, and Trauma Dumps
Welcome to Way Too Many Indies Wednesdays where we highlight four recently released or upcoming indie games that have caught our eye. In a market where so many games can get lost in the shuffle, some true gems can sneak right past us without us knowing. These are the four games this week that we want to keep our eye on, and we think you should as well!
This week is brought to you by our author, Oliver Shellding. The quad pack includes a twitchy matching roguelite, a nostalgia centric JRPG, a terrifying word association experience, and an emotional platformer that isn’t what you’d expect. All of these exciting titles will be coming soon on Steam, so be sure to check them out!

“Dopamine-fueled minimalist grid-based game that pushes the boundaries of psychedelic visuals and fast reaction time. ” Having played the demo, KAZ highlights everything that formulates a good, addictive title. The tile matching is quick and reflexive, the game builds upon itself gradually but consistently, and the runs get more and more complex with each iteration. This is a great contender for a wildly engrossing engagement, and I hope we see it on console as well!

“MONOWAVE is a whimsical puzzle-adventure platformer about the humane power of emotions. Explore beautiful worlds and empathize with quirky spirits to restore harmony.” This indie platformer has been in development for years now, and the devs have finally gotten it tight as a drum. With memorable character design and some really unique mechanics, this looks like a phenomenal contender for an exciting and breakthrough title that’ll capture eyes and hearts the world over later this year.

“Starless Umbra is a story-rich action RPG inspired by the best of classic and modern JRPGs. Engage in real-time combat and explore puzzle-filled dungeons in a couch co-op adventure where friendship and loyalty are tested in a world consumed by a noxious fog.” JRPGs are my weakness, and ones made by small dev teams over the course of years pique my interest in a big way. With more of a Secret of Evermore meets Illusions of Gaia vibe, the art styling, soundtrack and dogged dedication put this squarely on my radar. If you’re interested to give it a try, a playtest is coming soon, so be sure to check back on their Steam page regularly!
Am I Nima
Developer: HO! Games
Publisher: HO! Games, Outersloth

“Am I Nima is a psychological-horror game where you must convince your mom that you really are her daughter.” Oh boy, I love stumbling across a game that’s so upsetting! Fit together words and phrases to trigger memories and trauma as Misery meets Memento, with just a dash of Gypsy Rose Blanchard. It’s like if Wordle ripped open massive psychic wounds. It looks as though it will absolutely ruin your day, and I cannot wait to play this.
And that’ll do it for this iteration of Way Too Many Indies Wednesday! Go ahead and wishlist those that caught your eye; that kind of metric really matters for developers and publishers. There’s always something for someone, so don’t forget to always be searching for the next big game that really speaks to you. If you think there’s a game that should be considered for our roundup, be sure to let us know! Have fun, and keep the indie parade going!
