Indie Wednesday – Dual Perspectives & Dream Introspections

Way Too Many Indies Wednesdays

Welcome to Way Too Many Indies Wednesdays where we highlight four recently released or upcoming indie games that have caught our eye. In a market where so many games can get lost in the shuffle, some true gems can sneak right past us without us knowing. These are the four games this week that we want to keep our eye on, and we think you should as well!

This week is brought to you by our author, Jordan Hawes. This collection of four games is a bit all over the place, but that’s pretty typical for my taste. We have an intense action dual perspective shooter, a dual perspective puzzle game, an open world ARPG, and a shooter that is basically John Wick and Kingsman. All of these exciting titles will be coming soon on Steam, so be sure to check them out!

Dark Light: Survivor is a roguelike survival game where you play as one of the last humans, journeying through a shattered multiverse in search of the fabled Elysium. The Dark Void has unleashed horrific creatures that decimated humanity and fractured the multiverse. Amidst this chaos, a legend speaks of an Elysium untouched by the darkness.” I love the idea of the seamless perspective shifts of going from top-down shooter to up close and personal third-person combat. Pairing that with the games intense atmosphere and cool filters like the pixelated mode made this look very unique!

“In Fresco, ancient walls come alive. The carvings etched into the temple walls are not just decorations. They come to life, and the player can control them. You alternate between two characters: an archaeologist exploring the temple in 3D, and a character evolving inside the 2D frescoes on the walls. To progress, you must switch between them to advance both characters.” The Egyptian setting is what initially caught my eye, but what cemented it as my second pick is the gameplay. Needing to alternate between both the 3D world and the 2D paintings to solve puzzles looks like such a fun idea.

Andalas: Realms of Eternal Lights

“Join Rei, a boy fleeing his world to escape the grip of brain cancer, on a quest between dream and reality. Explore the vibrant lands of Andalas, incarn ancient figures and summon your pets to aid on your journey. Collect mysterious relics and uncover Andalas’ secrets before it’s too late.” A powerful story with a hard hitting premise of a boy with brain cancer just trying escape reality. Despite the dark theme, the setup allows for some extremely unique and beautiful looking ideas and art.

Gentleman’s Violence is an innovative Gun-fu FPS inspired by modern action movies. Become a professional killer, unleashing the cinematic thrill of tactical gunplay and brutal hand-to-hand fighting.” I mean, what is there really to say? It’s freaking John Wick and Kingsman in video game form and it looks so damn fun to play!

And that’ll do it for this iteration of Way Too Many Indies Wednesday! Go ahead and wishlist those that caught your eye; that kind of metric really matters for developers and publishers. There’s always something for someone, so don’t forget to always be searching for the next big game that really speaks to you. If you think there’s a game that should be considered for our roundup, be sure to let us know! Have fun, and keep the indie parade going!
