Indie Wednesday – Wait, Isn’t That…No?
Welcome to Way Too Many Indies Wednesdays where we highlight four recently released or upcoming indie games that have caught our eye. In a market where so many games can get lost in the shuffle, some true gems can sneak right past us without us knowing. These are the four games this week that we want to keep our eye on, and we think you should as well!
This week’s collection is brought to you by Oliver Shellding. Sometimes, indie titles will have a brilliant burst of inspiration that seems to come out of nowhere, crafting novel and unique ideas that set you back on your heels through sheer creativity and innovation. Other times, you get a title that feels familiar, and the genesis of this title might be a little more obvious than some. This doesn’t make them bad games or bad ideas, but you can clearly look and say “Oh, okay.” This week’s fistful of upcoming indies have at least a hint of something you may have seen before, but you can’t always say where…

“Two buttons. Pure, explosive speed. A lightning-fast action roguelite you play with just two buttons. Forge your own combat style with builds that shift every run, and chase that rush of pure dopamine through gorgeous visuals.” The striking banner of the game stands at distinct odds with the roughly hewn pixel art of this sidescrolling brawler that seems to marry One Finger Death Punch, Samurai Maiden and Oni together in a neat little package. Though we’ve certainly seen some of these elements before (including the upgrade system), it seems to stand out in the setting and engagement, plus I adore the aesthetic of it all. Personally, I’ll be picking this one up.
Next Reign: Kingdom
Developer: Tiny Tulip Games
Publisher: Tiny Tulip Games
Genre: Resource Management, Idler, Simulation
Platforms: PC (Steam, itch.io)
Release Date: September 4, 2026

“Transform a tiny settlement into a thriving medieval kingdom in this incremental strategy game. Build your economy, command your army, and keep discovering new ways to grow with every milestone.” Aright, this one is a little more blatant, pulling from a certain series of excellent simulation titles and a different but still interesting card-based royalty game and producing this idle title with very, very little promotion (seriously, indie devs, make sure you’re putting yourself out there). Having said that, this is another great looking pixel art game that also does something that I sorely desire: builds everything for me. Idle games are overlooked in terms of enjoyment, and letting this medieval setting basically craft itself is something that I’d like to drop in on now and again.
Lucky Coin Pusher
Developer: Rchair Studio
Publisher: Rchair Studio
Genre: Gambling, roguelike, waifu
Platforms: PC (Steam)

“Lucky Coin Pusher is a coin pusher simulator focused on deck-building. Combine characters, coins (or bowling balls), stickers, items and other elements to build unique synergies and hit the jackpot.” I think everyone can agree the biggest problem with Raccoin is that I didn’t get turned on by the racoon, and, thankfully, Rchair Studio fixes this. All joking (somewhat joking) aside, this coin pusher simultaneously streamlines the coin pushing process with a smaller playfield while also upgrading to a more 3D, realistic environment. The inclusion of bowling balls and rubber ducks makes this seem rather fun, though I don’t know how I feel about having a bunny girl costume as a character mode. Hey, whatever makes gaming fun for ya’ll.
Slayblade

Developer: Henry’s House, Oscar Brittain
Publisher: Henry’s House
Genre: Roguelike, simulation, battle top
Platforms: PC (Steam)

“Build your battle-top and become King of the Streets! Collect 60+ parts, Merge their Powers, and Dominate opponents in this Chill Roguelite! Skate around a vibrant Y2K city, winning Cash and Upgrades on your way to the top. And if you Die in the game, you Die in real life.” This game couldn’t be more obvious if they broke into Hasbro’s home and put on their bathrobe. Full of tons of early 2000 vibes, appropriate degrees of artwork and doing odd jobs to afford tops that might kill you, I’m not even mad, I just want to see how this turns out before lawyers turn on their computers. It drops next week, so queue up to get one of those games that might get yanked from Steam immediately.
And that’ll do it for this iteration of Way Too Many Indies Wednesday! Go ahead and wishlist those that caught your eye; that kind of metric really matters for developers and publishers. Also, show support for these games in your own way: follow the devs if you can and spread the word so that these dreams can come rushing forward even faster. There’s always something for someone, so don’t forget to always be searching for the next big game that really speaks to you. If you think there’s a game that should be considered for our roundup, be sure to let u know! Have fun, and keep the indie parade going!
If you missed last weeks picks, here is a quick link to go check them out!
