Indie Wednesday – Eh, It’s a Living
Welcome to Way Too Many Indies Wednesdays where we highlight four recently released or upcoming indie games that have caught our eye. In a market where so many games can get lost in the shuffle, some true gems can sneak right past us without us knowing. These are the four games this week that we want to keep our eye on, and we think you should as well!
This week’s collection is brought to you by Heidi Hawes. We’ve all had terrible jobs at some point in our lives (some of us have them currently), but we do what we must in order to make a living. This week’s collection of games each focus on different types of jobs, some interesting, some appealing, and some that might make you appreciate your current occupation. Hey, some times you’ve gotta do what you’ve gotta do, right?

“Manage a monster-friendly inn. Chop down trees to make furniture and decorate the rooms. Catch fish, hunt, and prepare meals. Befriend your guests, and they’ll join you as companions. What kind of monster guest will visit today?” Monsterest is shaping up to be an adorable, delightful game. Honestly, it seems like it would make for a great way to unwind after the daily grind.
HR: Human Remains

“In a broken world ruled by demons, the gears of productivity still turn. Complete tasks, solve puzzles, and explore a society under demonic regime from the perspective of an ordinary office clerk.” HR is already a taxing job, having to deal with people’s issues all day, but I think I’d happily listen to constant complaining rather than do that same job in a demon-run world where is everything is trying to kill me. Thankfully, this isn’t real life and HR: Human Remains is right around the corner to give us some heart-pumping action in our precious spare time.

“Woo Woo is a puzzle-exploratory horror roguelike. Clean up the haunted house by midnight, exploring eerie rooms and their inhabitants, or your dad will eat you!” So in Woo Woo, not only does your job suck, but you also have to deal with the threat of being devoured by your own father if you don’t do it well enough? Well, I love exploration and uncovering weird things, so I guess I’ll just clock in and hope for for the best once it releases.
Probably Stolen – Cyberpunk Shopkeeper Sim

“Probably Stolen is a cyberpunk shopkeeping simulator set in a dystopian space station. Craft, trade, and smuggle goods of questionable origin, navigate faction loyalties, and stop rampant AI by killing those it controls. Earn enough to buy out your shop before rising rent forces your hand.” Shopkeeping sims can be fun and cathartic in their own way, falling into routines and maximizing your organization skills, but Probably Stolen adds even more to the mix by allowing you to join factions and try to take on larger threats. Time to test those bartering skills!
And thatโll do it for this iteration of Way Too Many Indies Wednesday! Go ahead and wishlist those that caught your eye; that kind of metric really matters for developers and publishers. Also, show support for these games in your own way: follow the devs if you can and spread the word so that these dreams can come rushing forward even faster. Thereโs always something for someone, so donโt forget to always be searching for the next big game that really speaks to you. If you think thereโs a game that should be considered for our roundup, be sure to let u know! Have fun, and keep the indie parade going!
