Indie Wednesday – Living on a Prayer
Welcome to Way Too Many Indies Wednesdays where we highlight four recently released or upcoming indie games that have caught our eye. In a market where so many games can get lost in the shuffle, some true gems can sneak right past us without us knowing. These are the four games this week that we want to keep our eye on, and we think you should as well!
This week’s collection is brought to you by Heidi Hawes. Alright, let’s address the elephant in the room: today is not Wednesday. Sometimes life gets in the way of best-laid plans, so we do what we must. I prostrate myself before you and beg you forgiveness. I pray that you will forgive the late post. Speaking of prayers, let’s look at four games that center around faith and see if we can abolish our sins within.

“The world knows the Divine Comedy as a poem. For your family, it is a prison. As Gabriele Alighieri, you inherit a duty: reseal the gates of Hell. Burdened by fate, you descend into a psychological nightmare where the only escape is to uncover the dark secrets of your ancestors.” The Alighieri Circle: Dante’s Bloodline looks like it’s taken all of the most memorable parts of the Divine Comedy and turned them into a playable form. it’s set to release next week, so make sure to get that wishlist in now so you don’t miss it!

“Experience the journey of Bogdan, a shepherd turned legendary Templar knight, in Bogdan’s Cross. Traverse stunning landscapes, battle fierce foes, and uncover the hidden tale that shapes the destiny of the Templar Order. Become the hero of your own legend in this action-packed adventure!” Bear with me on this (only half sorry for the pun), but Bogdan’s Cross is shaping up to be an adventure of epic proportions. Experiencing other’s takes on the mysterious Templar order has always been fascinating to me, and I can’t wait to see what direction Bogdan’s Cross takes with its lore.

“SacriFire is an upcoming RPG boasting a unique combat system, elaborate pixel art, and music by genre legend Motoi Sakuraba. Ezekiel Ridan, a young priest, struggles to keep his faith as the world he loves is threatened by a war between gods and demons. The adventure begins!” SacriFire is not only shaping up to be an incredible love letter to JRPGs of old, but the turned-based/real-time combat blending is setting up some dynamic and strategic gameplay that I’m hoping turns out as fun as it looks.

“Good Heavens! is an open-world crafting and building RPG for solo and online co-op up to 8 players. Explore mysterious biomes, build your base, master six distinct tech trees, rebuild fallen cities, and help a clumsy God restore his world on the brink of collapse.” Here we have a more light-hearted entry that allows you play with up to eight people. As we all know, this can be either really great or an absolute train wreck depending on who’s in your team. Let’s all hold hands and pray for good matchmaking once Good Heavens! releases in two weeks.
And thatโll do it for this iteration of Way Too Many Indies Wednesday! Go ahead and wishlist those that caught your eye; that kind of metric really matters for developers and publishers. Also, show support for these games in your own way: follow the devs if you can and spread the word so that these dreams can come rushing forward even faster. Thereโs always something for someone, so donโt forget to always be searching for the next big game that really speaks to you. If you think thereโs a game that should be considered for our roundup, be sure to let u know! Have fun, and keep the indie parade going!
