BlizzCon 2026 – Day One
Day one of BlizzCon 2026 has come to an end and there was a ton announced. Some is coming soon, and some far, far away. However, for tonight, I want to focus on some of the cool things that I was able to capture behind the scenes and on the main show floor. I will have my opinion pieces and interviews out after the show is completed, but for now I wanted to give a fun compilation article about what I experience on day one of my first BlizzCon.
First thing is first, I will say that I am blessed to be able to do what I do and get a reserved media seat for the opening ceremony because the mad dash to get a decent seat in the Anaheim Convention Center was insane. We are talking thousands of people sprinting to a singular location that isn’t on a ground floor foundation; the floor was shaking. However, everyone was absolutely sweet and courteous, respecting the ADA rules. No one was trying to hurt anyone, it was just overwhelming excitement to be at BlizzCon 2026.
The excitement of the crowed was invigorating as everyone gathered in the hall. The turnout was so large that there was not enough seats to fill everyone. There were hundreds of people who had to stand along the sidelines through each side of the hall in order to see the live opening ceremonies. But from the reaction of everything, it seemed well worth it.
Now, there was a lot announced at this years BlizzCon 2026 day one and I will definitely get to my opinions of the announcements at another time. I will also have hands-on impressions of the updates as well as interviews coming as well. That being said, I wanted day one to be a fun compilation of what I experience as my first time at a BlizzCon down on the floor. I have to say, I had a blast, and the community was extremely awesome as well.
One of the best things about going to any “Con” is checking out all the fantastic cos-plays, and already day one, I was able to get a great variety of some fantastic people:
I wasn’t even able to get all of the amazing cosplayers that I saw through the day, but I will try and get more for BlizzCon 2026 day two! I was absolutely blown away by the quality and passion that went into these outfits. Some you could tell were more professional, and others were amazing homemade outfits that I respect a lot as well. Either way, the amount of cosplayers and their quality was through the roof!
Next up, I want to focus on some of the cool set pieces that I found on the show floor. There were some awesome photo op areas with amazing statues of the various Blizzard IPs, but I had to take some video of the great artwork compilation pieces they had set-up as well.
If there is one thing Blizzard doesn’t mess around with is their presentation and pageantry. They absolutely nail their cinematics and the world that they want to really delve deep into. This is also apparent with their floor presentations as well. From the moment you walk into these halls, or arenas, there is always something to catch your eye in the most amazing spectacle. They even had an awesome setup that showed mock PC setups throughout the years. Honestly, some of these are pretty damn accurate as well!
Despite having a full day of activities, interviews, and demos, I still wasn’t able to do everything in a single day. Hell, the first thing I’m doing tomorrow is getting first in line for the free Diablo tattoo station that they are doing at the event. Day one was an absolute blast, and for a newcomer, this has made me want to come back for every year that Blizzard wants to throw these because this is an absolute party and celebration of some of the building blocks of gaming.
Stay tuned for our day two impressions as well as our interviews, hands-on previews, and day two coverage of BlizzCon 2026!
