Indie Wednesday – Four Completely Serious Games About Cylinders

Way Too Many Indies Wednesdays

Welcome to Way Too Many Indies Wednesdays where we highlight four recently released or upcoming indie games that have caught our eye. In a market where so many games can get lost in the shuffle, some true gems can sneak right past us without us knowing. These are the four games this week that we want to keep our eye on, and we think you should as well!

This week is brought to you by our author Oliver Shellding. Oliver has clearly had a hard week of gaming, teaching, watching cherry blossoms bloom incredibly early and actively dodging drunk salarymen on the trains home. After not answering emails, phone calls or the signal fire he insisted we build, we were able to track Oliver down on a defunct forum about My So-Called Life. When asked what he would be writing about, he merely responded “Uh…cylinders.” With such dedication and clear direction, we can’t wait to see what he’s decided to bring to the table this week on a very special April first update!

BRAINSHELL

“Have you ever wondered what it would be like to become an Intercontinental Ballistic Missile? A psychological horror experience focusing on immersion, storytelling and audiovisual torment.”  Well, I have never wondered about ANY of those things, but now they fester in my subconscious while I’m trying to do anything else! Thanks, BRAINSHELL, I’ve unlocked a new fear that keeps me from even thinking about trying psilocybin. Now the missiles might actually be my Uncle Thom! It’s a bold, disturbing idea, and it’ll be perfect for the whole family. (I guess a human body turning into a missile is a cylinder of sort, so fair enough. – Editor).

Worming from Home

Developer: Zach Northrop, Mason Sabharwal
Publisher: Zach Northrop
Genre: Simulation, Sandbox, Satire
Platforms: PC
Release Date:  soon

“Be the Worm of Wall Street in this silly simulation game about working a remote finance job. Throw your spineless body around the keyboard to invest in the stock market and earn obscene amounts of money.”  This game has everything. Worms. Keyboards. A potted plant. The real question is: was the decision to make a worm be a daytrader just a random thing, or a thinly veiled jab at stock bros? Also, is there a way to actually get in on this and become a worm to stop going to my job? This will be a frustrating and ridiculous experience that I’m sure will be fun to watch and play.  (Definitely a cylinder, I suppose he did have a theme after all. – Editor)

Really Illegal Golf

Really Illegal Golf

Developer: Pushlab Games
Publisher: Pushlab Games
Genre: Stealth, Sports, Puzzle
Platforms: PC and maybe Nintendo Switch (Deku Deals had it listed?)
Release Date: 2026
Steam

“A stealth golf adventure in places nobody dared to take golf. Slip past security and line up risky shots. Tee up in cities, beaches, ski resorts, military sites and more. Keep quiet and sink it under par.” I’ve often played golf, and thought “This is missing something. It needs to be more like Hitman Go.” There’s nothing quite like taking a game that’s actively slow and relaxing and injecting elements of crime and revenge into the formula. Plus, it lets me roleplay what I imagine is why my father isn’t allowed back at Beaver Meadow Golf Course! AND THE GOLF CLUB IS CLEARLY A CYLINDER SO THIS COUNTS. (Oliver, literally no one demanded you justify these games, what’s going on? – Editor).

Bro Did You Even Shower? 2: The Ultimate Roast Game

Bro Did You Even Shower 2

Developer:のさん/nosan
Publisher:のさん/nosan
Genre: Simulation, America (apparently), Conspiracy
Platforms: PC
Release Date: Coming Soon
Steam
Website (well, someone’s website)

“Did you skip your bath yesterday? Welcome to the Bath Cancellation Surveillance Committee! In this town, a terrifying phenomenon known as the “Shower Skip” has spread…! Talk to NPCs and find out who’s skipping their showers. When you identify them, it’s time to cleanse them—no mercy!” It’s perfect. There’s no previous game, but there’s a sequel. It answers a question no one is asking. Why do you need swords and guns to deal with people not showering? Why would there be a conspiracy? Just why? The judges give it five stars, and it’ll move into the final competition against Sinbad later this episode. (Are you counting his bald head as a cylinder? We’re going to sit down and talk about this on Monday. – Editor).

And that’ll do it for this iteration of Way Too Many Indies Wednesday! As we gently but firmly encourage Oliver to take a good, long look at his life, be sure to keep your own searching going for all indie titles great and small, cylinders or otherwise! If you think there’s a game that should be considered for our roundup, be sure to let us know! Have fun, and keep the indie parade going!

If you missed last weeks picks, here is a quick link to go check them out!
